Beautiful hidden place. Only found it by chance and we had a fantastic 2hours walk around. Properly signed posted and offers options for any level of walker/fitness.
Is privately managed and there's an entrance fee, which is acceptable and you can see that it is reinvested I'm maintaining the place.
They can handle card payment but it's reliant on having signal, so do bring cash.
Great hikes, amazing views. We did the red trail which took about 2 hours. Some vertical hiking involved and we had hiking boots which are needed in parts. Spectacular views and it was not very busy despite it being the middle of summer. Be sure to visit the Uragh stone circle on your way to or from the parks.
Beautiful place. Don't miss it if you are around. Take boots or hiking shoes so you can do the red trail (waterfall) to the top of the mountain/waterfall.
Magical place where you are truly one with nature. From the river walk to the mini hike past a waterfall. Absolutely beautiful. Just take your time on the drive up, only one lane in places.
Nice walk, also possible with kid's due to ways are not too steep nor too long. Very beautiful landscape. Only challenge is oncoming traffic on the way to or from Gleninchaquin Park due to roads are very narrow.
This is a beautiful park with several different hikes, depending on how long you'd like to stay and how "vertical" you'd like to get. We did the red trail, which led us all the way up to the waterfall, past a gorgeous and tranquil lake, and back down to the bottom of the waterfall. Took us around 90-120 minutes.
Bring cash for the admission ticket (it's 7 € per adult). Be careful on the way there: it's a very narrow road, so watch our for cars coming your way.
Can’t recommend this park highly enough. It’s a real hidden gem that we didn’t want to leave. It’s on my bucket list to return as much as possible. Actually can I just move in…
What you need to know?
It’s 7km off the main road down a narrow road with some blind bends. There are lots of spots to pull over if you meet another car.
It’s on private property with a €7 entry fee payable in cash. Don’t be a stingy and try to avoid paying. It’s well worth it. Promise.
The walks are amazing. You feel alone at the end of the world. Just yourself and nature. Not all the walks are accessible so chat to Sean or Eileen to get some advice on what’s best for you. We did the river walk which was a 40 minute return over tree roots and natural steps. We also walked up to the lake which is stunning before completing the heritage walk a loop which takes you across the valley to the abandoned ruins. You cross the bridges at the waterfall then it’s a country road up to the lake, it’s a bit steep in spots. The heritage walk takes you across fields, through natural forest etc. Next time we’ll go over the waterfall.
The base of the waterfall would have been perfect for a picnic if we were organised.
A hidden juwel for nature lovers, a real discovery with Ireland's highest waterfall and breathtaking landscape! A private ,well organised and clean parc with fantastic trails
